St Brigids College took to the field today in Bushfield, in our first ever competitive soccer match. An exceptional performance resulted in a 1-0 win against Clarin College of Athenry, a display memorable for the hard work and determination shown by the boys to grind out the result following late pressure from the visitors.
Having never played together, St. Brigids defended resolutely and in turn looked threatening in the counter attack throughout. On 60 minutes Ciagon Davoren produced a perfect pass to set Siphiwe Nkosi through on goal, a chance he convincingly smashed past the goalkeeper.
The boys now move into the next round where they will be hopeful of reproducing this stellar performance.
