Biology is taught as a Senior Science subject to mixed ability groups. The revised curriculum is derived to include a variety of topics including Physiology, Microbiology, Food, Biochemistry, Genetics and Ecology. The new curriculum has more emphasis on investigations with an assessment component included worth 40%.
The New Leaving Cert Biology will be introduced for 5th year students in September 2025.
The Leaving Certificate Biology course aims to develop students' curiosity, enthusiasm and enjoyment for Scientific study of life.
